Lewisham Youth 6 - 3 Fastfield Utd Red - 18/09/11
A very poor start to our first game of the season. A goal in the
first minute set the tone for a very disappointing first half that saw
Fastfield ship 4 goals without reply to a very physical Lewisham Youth team. A
stern team talk at half time seemed to do the trick as Fastfield rallied to
score 3 but concede another 2. The Manager says: We were out-muscled and out-fought in the game
which is not like us. The boys looked nervous and never got their passing game
going. A real shame.
Man of the Match J Ebdon.
Fastfield Utd Red 3 - 0 Long Lane Pumas - 25/09/11
A great response to the previous weeks defeat. Fastfield
controlled the game from start to finish and could have won by more. The
midfield dominated play and didn't allow Long Lane a decent chance at goal. Two
goals by E Omolayole and one from C Bennett sealed a very comfortable win. The Manager says: We looked back to our footballing best today.
Great effort and application by all the lads. J Ebdon dominated the opposition
in the middle and Elijah always looked athreat going forwards. A special
mention for C 'Carpet' Bennett who scored his first goal in a Fastfield shirt.
Different class!
Man of the Match E Omolayole.
Hayden Youth 3 - 1 Fastfield Utd Red - 02/10/11
The hottest October day in living memory served up a frustrating
time for 'The Reds'. Fastfield started brilliantly, knocking the ball about and
making chance after chance. E Omolayole scored another goal to put Fastfield 1-0
up and another win looked on the cards. However things did not pan out that
way. A few more chances had passed by when Hayden counter attacked and scored
with their first effort of the game. Undaunted Fastfield went looking to regain
the lead only to be hit on the break again. 2-1 down and the home team had only
had 2 shots. As the game went on and Fastfield spurned chance after chance to
equalise they over committed players forward and again got hit on the counter.
3-1. The Manager says: An unbelievable result. We must have had 20
shots during the game with many hitting the target. Their 'keeper is on
Arsenal's acadamy books and I could see why. We absolutely smashed them off the
park and lost 3-1. So frustrating but at least we played good football and made
chances.
Man of the Match C Mahoney.
Fastfield Utd Red 2 - 2 Fastfield Utd White - 23/10/11
A very tricky game for both teams who know each other so well. It
was the Whites who started the better, playing good attacking football. The
Reds seemed a bit nervous of getting involved in the match. The Whites opened
the scoring after opening up the Red defence again. The Reds finally started to
come to life and began to play football the way they know how. An equalising
goal was not long in coming and a win for the Reds looked on the cards. It was
not to be though as the Whites re-asserted themselves and scored a second. That
should have been it but for an equaliser in the dying moments of the
game. The Manager says: I was not looking forward to this game! Jon's
team have had our number in training in recent friendlies and we struggled
again today. You know when you walk away from a game feeling happy with a draw
that it's not been a good day at the office!
Man of the Match D Giles.
Halls Blue 0 - 2 Fastfield Utd Red - 30/10/11
A great performance by the whole Red team bought home the points
in this one-sided encounter. Better finishing by the away team could have seen
six or seven goals scored. By contrast the Reds 'keeper J Creevy can only have
touched the ball 5 times during the whole match. A goal in each half sealed a
comfortable win in which the level of football played by Fastfield was amazing
for all to see. The holding play by L Wilkin and Midfield play of J Ebdon and D
Giles were a highlight of a great team effort. Another goal for C Bennett and a
contender for 'goal of the season' by C Mooney sealed it. The Manager says: This was the best football I have ever seen us
play. From front to back we were fantastic. The defence was solid, the midfield
was creative and the forward line unplayable at times. It was like watching
Barca! One of my proudest moments in management! Awesome stuff.
Man of the Match L Wilkin.
